Summer Komikon 2012

Komikon is a conference for graphic novels fanatics and the themed was "Wakasan" for 2012, at Bayanihan Center, UniLab. As we walk the hallway you'll see a lot of fanatics and almost all are reading comic books. I remember the days when I was a kid, ways how I save money just to buy comic books. In every steps, As we enter the conference hall, I remember that lunch was a taboo to save money. Memories of hardship just for a goal, the dream of having The Infinity War Comic Book Series. I'm in the middle of my flashback when their security interrupt. The Hell, I'm in the middle of reminiscing, we didn't realize that we still need to register.

While inside the conference hall, another flashback. School book bazaar days, I'm trying to remember the comic book that I want when I was a kid. Before anything else, we need to find our friend who are already inside the conference having fun. I need to stop this flashbacks.

After the meet, It's time to go on our separate ways and let the adventure begin. There was almost no room  to browse comic books. The hell I care, that won't stop me, I'm in my quest to find my comic book. As I browse every store, I saw a lot interesting things such as local comic books, international graphic novels, independent comic books, mangas, accessories, hats, shirts and a lot more.

We saw some of our legendary Pinoy comic books like Pugad Baboy, Beerkada, Kikomachine and others where in almost all started as a comic strip in a newspaper. And behind the legendary comic books were their creators. Heroes of Pinoy comic book industry, like Pol Medina Jr of Pugad Baboy, Lyndon Gregorio of BeerKada, Manix Abrera of Kikomachine Komix, Elmer Damaso of Cat's Trail, Freely Abrigo of Kulas, Carlo Vergara of Zsazsa Zaturnnah, Heubert Khan Michael of Unstoppable and a lot more.

There is also a lot of aspiring new comic books that you want to take home including the gir-- (Ssshhh...), lol, first issue of the Komikon tabloid was also released, movie trailer of Tiktik: The Aswang Chronicles was shown, with sophisticated and high end graphics, to be release this October, contest, games, prizes and some independent comic books: Pilak, Dragon Tear, Cubie 'n Bouncy and others available in the market.

Pilak

Marvel and DC graphic novels are also available with other international comic books. Comic books that we really want to see are graphic novels we grew up on reading and revisiting them from time to time,  an example was the ever so popular comic book "Funny Komiks", especially the characters who made it known like  Combatron, Niknok, Tinay Pinay, Pupung, Pitit, Tomas en Kulas at Planet Opdi Eyps.

All well that ends well as the conference already closing it's door to end the day. All was happy and satisfied as they went home with comic books in their hands and smile on their faces. It felt like I'm almost part of  the comic books including the gir-- (Ssshhh...) and that made me happy and was able to smile, as I walk with others as we went home, though I didn't find what I was looking for . A Pinoy graphic novel which I can't remember the title. All I know is that this comic book is the Pinoy version of Where's Wally/Where's Waldo? Where the hell are you? Summer Komikon 2012 finally closes it's door but this won't end our journey inside the world of comic books . And of course, my journey continues in search of the comic book that I can't remember the title. Wherever you are, I will find you. Bwahahaha....(ahem!)

Until next Komikon, my friends, co fanatics, readers, everyone, I hope to see you all there. Let's support our Filipino Comic Book Industry.
